HELLO HELLO HELLO

Guess who's back? I know I've been neglecting my blog. Sorry blog world. But I'm back with good news, the reason I've been so busy is because I got the job @ SEARS. Yup, I am the official VMS (visual merchandise specialist) & I'm killin'. I think I'll be here for a while, I'm up for a full-time position. Oh & I'm doing styling with my friend Anthony Satterwhite on the side. Yay me! Speaking of styling, I have a job this sunday, 60 girls. Should be a fun shoot. I'll be sure to post pictures. For those of you who've stuck it out during my absence, thank you. I'll get back to blogging on a regular basis now that I have my blackberry. What should my upcoming posts be about? Want tips on how to score your dream job or an awesome internship? Fashion gossip? My journey though my new styling gig? I'm open to feedback and ideas. Until next time.

UPDATE!!!!!

My last post was about an interview offer for SEARS & I'm happy to say that my dreams are finally manifesting! The interview went GREAT...Joe loved me...yay! He wants to "find me a home"...his words exactly =).This is like the best news I've had in forever...like I'd get to do something I love, in the city, for great pay. Uber excited...can you tell? So tell me...should I go for it?

Interview

It's been a while since my last post so let me fill you in. I'm taking time away from work...it was trying to kill me lol. My professor sent me this email for a job opportunity with SEARS as a visual merchandise specialist...which is BOMB. I sent Joe my resume & he asked me to come in for an interview tomorrow.YAY! So this is my chance to jump start my career & stop wasting my time doing what most of the world is doing...working to survive...I want to work because I love it. Well I've been shopping lately...matter of fact, I think I'll be on my way to Forever XXI in a couple of hours...I'm feeling dressy which is rare but recently not so much. I'll post pics of my last couple of hauls later. Yeah so wish me luck on my future bloggers. I wish you all the same luck & success.

Paper or plastic?

I was searching fo inspiration & i found this picture. How is it inspiring? I have no idea.lol. No serioulsy though, it reminds me of my life right now...just a bunch of pieces, nothing really connecting to anything else, but all from the same source. I'm in an internal battle between what I want to do & what I'm currently doing. I know that I have to continue what I'm doing until something better comes along, but it's not getting me any closer to what imy main goal is. Waste almost 3 years of college or go broke trying to follow your passion? If being broke means being happy...I'll be broke. Something good is going to happen, I just hope it happens soon enough. I think I'll go grab some magazines tomorrow before work & make an inspiration board...something to keep me focused and motivated.

Good Morning

I woke up with the worst stomach pain ever...probably from the Oreo Cookie Icre Cream Cake I shared with a couple of friends yesterday. Painfully dilicious. lol. So I took a garlic pill and turn to SportsSkool OnDemand so I could do some yoga. My relationship with yoga is bittersweet...I love my mat...it's pretty badass if I don't say so myself...but I'm a beginner & I'm learning...I did pretty well this morning. Enough about that...I cleaned my room the other day & found like old fashion projects and magazines...man those were the days. I'm not even done with school but this job has sucked all the life out of me so things I used to enjoy just don't cut it.smh. I'll get it together...I hope. Well it's 12:15 & I have to get ready for work...might post later.

So I was browsing blogs earlier, trying to get some inspiration & I stumbled upon Miss Shelby Corley blog "Lokei Dreams" & she had this playlist which I also loved. MIA

So I've been M.I.A lately & besides the fact that Spring semester was ending and work had been consuming me, I spent some time in the hospital. But, I'm better...well kind of. So I was recently diagnosed with migraines with ptosis. Yeah it kind of sucks, but I'm adjusting. It hasn't stopped me from finishing school though or following my dreams. As a matter of fact I have a 3.3 GPA in my major classes! Yay me!!!! Even with the missed days and a big fat F on one of my exams I managed to pull a B in my Fashion Promotions class! Enough of that...So what have I been up to?

Since my last post I've been driven crazy with tweets. lol. I finally had to just say enough and turn my tweet off on my phone. Aside from twitter, I went to Thursday night Art Walk downtown. It was an awesome turn out, I wish I would have gotten there earlier but unfortunately I didn't get off of work until 9.boooooo. For those of you who are in the Los Angeles area, check out Downtown Art Walk on the second Thursday of every month. For more info check out: www.downtownartwalk.org/. 

Aside from the Art Walk, I've just been searching an apartment and a new job. My job search sucks! I've been looking for a job in retail, but it's not really working out like I planned. My ultimate goal is to become a Fashion Public Relations Coordinator and I doubt I'll be able to obtain my goal by working at a bank. I would say, "You have to start somewhere"...but I've worked for Macy's, Puma and interned for the California Market Center. Banking isn't really my forte, but it's helping me save.

My only advice for all my struggling students and working professionals is, "Everything happens for a reason & when it's your time, everything will fall into place so don't give up and be persistent". Until next time...

Day 1

What's the top tool any aspiring fashionista will need to survive in this world? NETWORKING. I was talking to my friend, Anthony Satterwhite, the other day about taking my major seriously. He's a genius in my opinion. Well he basically told me I needed to create myself a business card and start promoting myself. If I can promote fashion, I should be able to promote myself, right. So what did I do? I created a twitter, of course. I mean really, who doesn't have a twitter? Plus it's easy to access from my phone, so I can tweet my every move and network like crazy. So if you want to get yourself out there and you don't really have access outside of your general circle, create a twitter & follow me.

Introducing Young Mi

Hello Blog World,

The name is Micha (my-ka), but you can all me Young Mi (young m eye) ;). I'm new around town, well on a professional note anyway. I'm a FASHION student but my passion doesn't stop there...I love to write. So why not start a "fashion blog"? Well maybe because it's over done and over played? Or maybe because I don't want to limit myself to writing strictly about fashion? Well that's when I had my "aha" moment. Why not write about what I know? Wait, what do I know? That's the question. Well during my time as a student I've learned a lot, but not enough to call myself a professional. So I decided that I would take the world along with m on my journey through the fashion industry with a few pit stops of random adventures. I dedicate this blog to anyone and everyone who reads it, more so people like me, students or young adults who love fashion but don't have any idea how to put their passion to use. My goal is to inspire people like me to take their passion seriously and learn how to take advantage of their resources.
